TRULY LOVED…
It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we remember Linda Jean Batson, lovingly known as Ms. Linda, who was born on September 17, 1940, in Yuma, Arizona, and passed away on April 11, 2026, in San Diego, California, after a life marked by chronic illness. She was a woman of strength, dignity, and grace who touched many lives with her loving spirit and thoughtful presence.
Ms. Linda carried herself with quiet confidence and a warm heart that made others feel welcome. She was the beloved mother of her son Joseph (CheLees), and her daughters; DeBorah (Barry) and Jennifer. She was also blessed with four grandchildren; Marlano, Xavier, Mariano, and Zenobia, along with three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy.
She was surrounded by a loving family. Those left to mourn her loss include her sister Zelma, her brother-in-law Alfred Batson, her sisters-in-law Tina, Amber, Marie, and Roberta, as well as nieces, nephews, family friends Richard (Paulette), and many others who will forever cherish her memory.
In her early years, Ms. Linda graduated from Yuma High School, where she participated in softball and volleyball. These experiences reflected the determination and spirit that guided her throughout life, including her role as a devoted Marine wife to Robert until his passing.
Ms. Linda later worked as a librarian for the San Diego Public Library. She went on to become a cook for San Diego City Schools and was ultimately promoted to dietician, a role from which she retired. Her work was marked by dedication and compassion, as she believed no child should go hungry.
She also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including cooking, shopping—especially for shoes and anything green—and traveling. She took many trips overseas, with a special fondness for Paris. Ms. Linda had a joyful side as well. She loved swimming, though she avoided getting her perfectly styled hair wet. Her graceful ability in the water often surprised others and reflected her vibrant personality.
Her faith was rooted in spirituality, guiding her through life’s joys and challenges. She will be remembered as loving, wise, and thoughtful.
Linda Jean Batson lived a life of love, service, and enduring strength. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains in the memories and love she shared.
