Muhammad Mosque #8

It was an exciting Sunday morning at Muhammad Mosque number 8; a scene bright and filled with earnest hearts and minds ready to engage in truth. “Mrs. Auld one day saw [Fredrick] Douglass reading a newspaper; she ran over to him and snatched it from him, with a face that said education and slavery were incompatible with each other. He continued, secretly, to teach himself how to read and write.” Douglass once stated that “knowledge is the pathway from slavery to freedom” and the opening speaker, Charles Muhammad, shared with guests and members to emphasize the criticality of learning. This would be the theme of this past Sunday’s, December 29, lecture delivered by San Diego’s representative of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, Brother Student Minister Hugh Muhammad, highlighting the importance of seeking knowledge through reading and reasoning.

Following with the same theme of seeking knowledge through reading and reasoning, a special graduation ceremony for brothers Abdul Muhammad, Asa Muhammad, Arthur X, Brad X, Charles H. Muhammad, Charles 3X, Monkeith Muhammad, Ahmad Muhammad, and Sister Marshell X ensued. This enticing group of daring souls sought, studied and committed to learning the teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, a teaching that is often not welcomed under the statues of this mundane society, but even so, they excelled and stood victoriously proud as they cuffed their certificates, while those in attendance including proud family members looked on. Brother Student Minister Hugh Muhammad handed each one of the graduates a gift of audible, visual and literary studies, repeating to each recipient the title of the book that they received “In that day [of judgment] your righteousness shall sustain you”.

A warm reception emerged as sisters prepared delightful food, drinks and heavenly chocolate cake. Let us wish these brothers and sister a prosperous journey as they continue to be touched and share the positive effect the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad has had (and has) on them, and so many.
