County officials and community members celebrated the Lemon Grove Family Resource Center’s new home at 3285 Lemon Grove Avenue. The center, located just a mile from its former site, now sits next to the trolley stop and closer to the heart of Lemon Grove, improving access for local families.
Seamless Move, Continued Support
The center transitioned from its former location in May, closing on a Friday and reopening at 7 a.m. the following Monday with no interruptions to services. Since opening, it has served more than 7,000 customer visits, offering food assistance, health insurance enrollment, cash assistance and other essential services.
Modern Space, Better Access
The renovated building, formerly a Union Bank, features a modern, open layout designed to improve customer service. Operating hours remain 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those eligible can access CalFresh, Medi‑Cal, and CalWORKs on-site just steps from the trolley and bus routes.
Strengthening Community Services
The center reflects the County’s commitment to expanding access to critical services in modern, dignified spaces.
Nearly 115,464 residents in this area rely on self-sufficiency programs, including food and medical assistance. The new center is staffed by are 35 employees who support the community daily.
The Lemon Grove Family Resources Center is the fourth modernized County resource center to open since 2020, joining County centers in the North Coastal, Southeastern, and Ramona communities.
The County’s Self Sufficiency Services department helps more than 1.2 million San Diegans across the region each year, providing stability and a pathway to independence. Through customer-focused tools, multilingual help and community partnerships, Self‑Sufficiency Services works to make applying for benefits easier, faster and more accessible.
