Phillip Lewis was born in San Diego, CA, on November 6, 1965, to parents John B. and Earnestine Lewis, who preceded him in death. He was the 8th of their 10 children.
Phil, as his siblings call him, played basketball in high school (Morse High) and at the college level (North Park University in Chicago, IL, Fullerton College). Phil was known for his Basketball prowess as quoted by “G. Wade Seifer – You were a beast my brother. No one enjoyed themselves doing anything as much as you did and because of that you made others comfortable around you. It’s a gift I’m glad you shared with us at NPC.” Phil had a short stint in the United States Navy from 1994-1995 and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at (National University) in Irvine, CA. He loved to travel. Over the course of his life, he traveled from San Diego and lived in Chicago, Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii; who knows where else. He loved meeting people and spending time near the water, or fishing in the water, especially relaxing and people watching at the beach. He saw God in nature; a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a mountain range or open plain. He loved how ‘The Artist…” God, painted the sky. He was intelligent, engaging and very personable; he had a way with words and could be very charming. He enjoyed reading almost as much as he enjoyed talking with people. He loved his family, and was loved by his family.
Phillip passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 60; succumbing to Cancer. He is survived by his sister Mary Ross (Mickey Ross), brother Anthony Lewis (Eliese Lewis), sisters; Elizabeth Lewis, Alma Branch (Eugene Branch), and Audrey Jeffery, brother Will Lewis, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
