Rose Evelyn Wilson Taylor was born May 25, 1932 in Texarkana, Texas to her loving parents, Willie E. Wilson and Cenie Bell Wilson. She attended Sunset Elementary School and Dunbar High School in Texarkana. Throughout school, Rose was an honor student. Her favorite subject was math. She graduated from Terrell High School in Denison, Texas with high honors where she participated in Chorus and was a member of the Girl’s Basketball Team. She continued her education at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas. She retired employment from the U.S. Postal Service with over thirty (30) years of service. Rose attended St. John’s Baptist Church (Texarkana) as a child actively participating in Sunday School, regular Sunday services and all weekly services. She loved singing in the choir and began teaching herself to play the piano. In 1943 her family moved to Denison, Texas and she began attending Mt. Olive Baptist Church where her grandfather was the pastor. She began playing the piano for Antioch Baptist Church (Denison) at the tender age of 14. She later moved to San Diego and became the musician at Community Baptist Church for almost sixty (60) years. She was very active participating in multiple ministries. She served as secretary in the *Silver Stars* church auxiliary and Sunday School. She was a devoted member and received many honors and awards including *Silver Stars This Is Your Life* dedication celebration and *Community Baptist Church Outstanding Musician* recognition and celebration. Her hobbies were reading, shopping, playing piano, sewing, working crossword puzzles and reciting poetry. pink was her favorite color and she loved all shades. She was the proud, loving and nurturing mother of thirteen (13) children! First, marrying Cleveland Armstead – two (2) children and later marrying Uvonne Thomas – eleven (11) children. She leaves to cherish her loving memory – six (6) children; Beverly Armstead-Covington (Snellville, Ga), Reginald (Kim) Thomas (Douglasville, Ga., (San Diego, CA.) Lisa (San Diego, CA.). Three (3) sisters; Tommie Turner (Ft. Worth, TX), Cenie Nelson (Las Vegas, NV.) Lillian Nelson (Ft. Worth, TX) Brother: David Wilson (Texarkana, TX) God-Brother/Uncle; Dr. Charles Bell (Texas) and Cousin: Theodore Harris (California) along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
