He was a recorder of our history with his ever present camera; a guardian and keeper of that history as it was being made on a day to day basis. He was known and appreciated, his loss will forever be felt going forward.

Mike Norris was a native San Diegan who some remember back as far as Memorial Jr. High School. But he also had a life in Oakland and Sacramento, California where he spent his life when not in San Diego. He passed last week leaving an empty chair at Thanksgiving Dinner tables and pictures that will never be recorded. While he covered just about everything that took place in San Diego at some point during the last 60 years, one of his favorites was the OG Sand Box Annual Cookout for which he documented over three decades of participants through a photo collection of members who had passed, and which he published and shared with those who were continuing the tradition.

Mike Norris, for more years than we can remember, had been a lead photographer for the San Diego Voice & Viewpoint Newspaper. So much so he became synonymous with Voice & Viewpoint. No event was too small or too large. He was the ultimate professional with his cameras, which we all saw as a part of him.

While arrangements are incomplete as of press time, we will publish online as soon as notified. Preferred Cremation and Burial is handling the services.
