San Diego, CA: The San Diego County Airport Authority recently hosted their “Take Flight” program and tour to highlight the various careers one can pursue working at the San Diego Airport Authority.  Students from Point Loma and Chula Vista High School were given an exclusive tour of the airport and was provided an opportunity to interact with a number of executive level professionals, airport stewardesses and the human resource director of the airport. Jay Bass,  Manager of ground transportation for the San Diego International Airport manages 54 airport traffic officers. Each officer is a employee of the San Diego International Airport that has an impressive benefits package and salary. Jay Bass states every day people are coming and going and his crew are the “Airport Ambassadors” that provides exemplary customer service. People are happy welcoming loved ones or are also happy someone is leaving San Diego. Either way we are usually the first and the last people guests will interact with when they come to the San Diego International Airport.
Eric Brown, Vice-Principal, Point Loma High School shares, “The Take Flight program is a great opportunity for our young people to explore the different careers offered in aviation, business and hospitality. Many including myself didn’t realize until today’s presentation that there are hundreds of careers offered at the San Diego County Airport Authority alone and does not include the hundreds of careers offered with each airline and/or small business that is connected to the airport. I am thankful Point Loma High School could take part in Take Flight.” Marc, junior at Chula Vista High School states, “I would like to look into a career at the San Diego Airport as a business manager. I like to figure out the different logistical needs that the airport presents everyday. There is never a dull moment. It’s pretty incredible how things work at the airport. I look forward to what is possible in my future here.”
