Sonia leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope and charity through years of selfless service for anyone in need of food, shelter, raiment, and employment. She tackled every obstacle that came her way with a optimistic drive and a smile that would brighten the entire room. Love was her watch word, and helping the needy was her profession. Sonia was the epitome of a leader that always placed the needs of others first while being an example for her peers to emulate. Among family, friends and loved ones she was a counselor, advocate, mentor, comedian, tour guide, cook, attorney, mother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more that words can only attempt to express. She was everything that so many can only wish to be. Aside from her selfless service and professional life, Sonia was committed to family. She loved visiting her sisters, brother, nieces and nephews living throughout the U.S. from the west coast to the east. She will forever be remembered for her warm heart and selfless contributions to her family, friends, community and strangers.
Sonia leaves to mourn her beautiful daughters Tiffany Palacios of Fort Lee, Virginia; Brandi Newbold, San Diego, California; two sons Malachi Canty, San Diego, California; JB Newbold, Victorville, California; six grand children, Jaquien, Jaydiss, Jasaia, Jaleia, Cristian, Jeyani; four sisters, Patricia Gomez, New York City, Elizabeth Gomez, New York City; Linda Gomez, Phoenix, Arizona; Janice Banks, Phoenix, Arizona; Donald Gomez, Long Island, New York and a host of relatives and friends.
