Morse alum, Carl Fisher, will be entering his first year as Head Coach at Morse High School, he will be taking over for Coach Bobby Sumler. “I was hoping he would get the job. He is kind of chill and he is a real good coach,” shared Tiger Jorden Nance.
Fisher is no stranger to the basketball scene, he played and graduated from Morse in 1983, to later attend Trinity College in Colorado.
Fisher continues to stay active in the community in spite of his very busy schedule, devoting his time to coaching AAU basketball teams, football, and Bishop’s girls’ basketball team in La Jolla. In addition Fisher has over 21 years of basketball experience at the youth and prep-levels. He is a native of San Diego, residing in the in Skyline/Bay Terrace area.
His numerous and productive years as an accomplished hoops instructor allowed him to apply and accept the position as Head Coach at Tiger Town. “He taught me a lot when I played JV and in summer league he focuses a lot on defense and that’s good. I think we will go back to CIF,” Jorden shared.
Coach “Fish” has many goals as the Head Basketball Tiger in Charge, with one of his main focuses getting the young Tigers groomed and ready for any and all college recruiters.
Fisher also plans on having study hall and weekly assessments of grades. “We are going to be serious about team sportsmanship, self-accountability, leadership skills and good work ethics,” he said. Fisher continued “We are going to try and compete in the big LA tournaments and I want the kids to have fun and enjoy their high school experience.”
Fisher’s coaching staff is: Lawrence West, Talib Mahbi and Brian Wilson.
