Neal Petties Park was the place to celebrate the extremely hot holiday with old friends, make new ones, and give free school supplies to kids courtesy of the OG SandBox organization. The annual gathering was a bring your own chairs, grills, food and have a good time at the historical Neal Petties Mountain View Park.
Visitors came from other cities to party with the local OG’s and their extended families.
“I came here from Arizona to hang out with kin-folks and old friends,” said Sonny Meals. “You don’t know when we might see each other again, and I always have a good time when I come back to San Diego.”
Jeffery Young from Los Angeles, via San Diego, shared: “I try to make it down here for this day whenever I can. Good food, good company and family…And I like how they are looking out for the little kids with the school supplies.”
The Giving-Hands non-profit organization and its supporters were in the park giving opportunities to local rappers to showcase their skills as they continue on an upward trajectory towards the national music scene.
The Giving-Hands also provided plenty of activities for the kids in the busy park.
There were also plenty of booths featuring vendors and local organizations at the big OG SandBox and community Labor Day function.
