Tonya Joemina Clark
December 7, 1962 – December 24, 2016
On December 7th, 1962, Tonya Joemina Clark was born to Mable Jackson and J.T. Clark in San Diego, California. Tonya was an active child and being the youngest of nine children she always had someone to watch over her. Growing up Tonya enjoyed outings to the snow and beaches with her family. The family would pile into “the coach” and frequently camp-out at the beautiful beaches around San Diego, Del Mar and Carlsbad; they would travel to Alpine in the winter, to go sledding and when Viejas Casino was opened, that became a popular travel destination as well. Tonya spent her primary school years at Keiller Elementary. She then attended O’Farrell Junior High. In 1982 Tonya graduated from Morse Senior High School in San Diego, CA. “Lady T” had always enjoyed doing hair and after graduating from high school she went on to earn her Cosmetology license studying at Bay Vista College of Beauty. Tonya was employed within the City of San Diego’s Traffic Division for several years. Following the passing of her mother, Tonya found her purpose and began caring for the elderly. She was selflessly set aside her needs and problems to tend to the needs of others. We all know that Tonya was the life of the party, always showcasing her beautiful smile. You knew when Tonya had arrived because her infectious laugh would capture your attention. On Saturday, December 24, 2016, our bubbly Tonya’s soul was called to rest. Tonya was preceded in death by her mother Mable and brother’s Gregory Jackson and Alfred Moore Jr., who are all waiting, with open arms, at Heaven’s gate to greet her. Tonya leaves to cherish her memory five sisters and one brother; Diane Greer of Waldorf, Maryland; Merry Boyd-Bunch (Richard) of Portland, Oregon; Sergant Jackson of Vancouver, Washington; Antoinette Jackson (Wallace) of San Diego, California, Debra Jackson-Evans (Donnell) of Paramount, California and Melody Jackson (Daniel) of San Diego, California and a host of beloved nieces and nephews as well as many adored friends.
