UCSD took control in the second half of their trip to Hawaii after a close first half battle.
Hawaii’s Kody Williams hit a 3-point shot midway through the first half that gave the
Rainbows a commanding 23-14 lead, but the Titans chipped away at the lead to end the
half down 34-33. Kyler McGhie led UCSD with nine points in the half.

McGhie Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones scored 16 points, Nordin Kapic added 11, and Hayden
Grey dropped 13 to supplement McGhie’s 24-point game high effort. Hawaii looked like
they would claim an easy victory as Tom Beattie dished Tanner Christensen a pass for a
Layup that gave the Rainbows a 47-38 lead with 13:35 remaining in the game.
The Titans would not fold however. Tyler McGhie’s 3-point jumper closed a 12-0 run that
gave the Titans a 50-47 lead, then he hit another 3-pointer to start a 10-0 run capped by
a Tait-Jones Layup that secured the lead for good.

UCSD returns home to face Cal State Riverside next Thursday.
