City Council President Myrtle Cole honored the Central San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce’s (CSDBCC) contributions to the City of San Diego by proclaiming Feb. 7, 2017 “Central San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce Day.” The proclamation presentation took place at City Hall, where CSDBCC Board Chairman Bruce Mayberry, CSDBCC Executive Vice President Maxine Price, and CSDBCC 2016 Small Business of the Year honoree Michael Taylor proudly accepted the proclamation on behalf of the CSDBCC.
Council President Cole’s proclamation presentation highlighted CSDBCC’s achievements in advancing Black-owned businesses through strategic relationships with industry, government, educational, and faith-based organizations; in educating, engaging, and empowering Black professionals, residents, and youth; in providing diverse talent to corporations, universities, and K-12 schools throughout San Diego County; and in promoting inclusive economic development and equal opportunity in San Diego’s growing economy.
“This proclamation marks an extraordinary milestone for CSDBCC’s mission,” said CSDBCC President/CEO, Dr. Steven Jones, who has been leading the organization since Sept. 2016. “Thanks to the generous contributions of time, talent, and resources from our Board, our Executive Leadership Team, our Chamber members, our community, and our business partners, CSDBCC is achieving unprecedented growth and impact as a business resource center committed to fostering the success of Black-owned businesses and Chamber members throughout San Diego County.” Under the visionary and collaborative leadership of Dr. Jones, Bruce Mayberry, and Maxine Price, CSDBCC’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has been working diligently to deliver on an ambitious 2017 Six-Step Growth Strategy, which involves strengthening and expanding the Chamber’s membership base, advancing inclusive economic development, building corporate partnerships, engaging in political advocacy, and contributing to community and youth development.
