San Diego, CA: Thousands of San Diegans converged into the Qualcomm Stadium Practice Field in Mission Valley for the Throwback Festival featuring old school hip hop artists DJ Quik, E-40 and Bone Thugs & Harmony on Saturday, June 7, 2014. The day-long event included merchandise and food vendors, a beer garden and old school graffitti to complete the ambiance of back-in-the-day hip hop.

“It never ceases to amaze me how Hip Hop music has the ability to positively unify the masses. There were people from various ethnic backgrounds and social status present with one goal in mind … bob to the beat of the bass of a few old school favorites,” shares Dr. Vangie Akridge. Eddie Price, “I appreciate San Diego finally producing a concert featuring real hip hop artists who’s lyrics have real meaning and words. I hope the trend of live concerts continues in San Diego. We are so far behind the Bay area and LA.”

Roy Staley shared, “My basketball team won tickets at the recent Hoops at the Beach 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Mission Beach last month as one of the prizes of winning our division in the tournament. We all enjoyed the drama free concert. More importantly, seeing real hip hop heads perform together on stage. Special thanks to Imagine Media Group and SDCity for a great night of live hip hop!”

Future events produced by the Imagine Media Group include the Annual Extreme Autofest car show on Saturday, July 19th featuring hip hop artist Too Short and the Island Vibe Music Festival featuring the Jets, Common Kings and Fiji on Saturday, August 2nd.
