The 2017-2018 Season begins with the most award-winning musical of the 2015-16 Broadway season, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. Then, take a voyage under the sea with one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories with Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID. The world’s greatest love story continues with this spellbinding sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s biggest hit in LOVE NEVER DIES. The Webber hits keep coming with his most-recent rock musical sensation, SCHOOL OF ROCK. One of two Rodgers and Hammerstein classics coming to San Diego this season and winner of four 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, is THE KING AND I. Rounding out the season is a show that will have you dancing in the aisles with the inspiring true story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan in ON YOUR FEET! about two people who believed in their talent, each other, and their road to becoming an international sensation.
“The 2017-2018 season, in particular, is simply an embarrassment of riches,” said Joe Kobryner, Vice President of Broadway/San Diego. Six of our seven subscription shows are Broadway/San Diego debuts; along with some of the biggest mega-hits in musical theater history returning to the Civic Theatre,” he added.
Added season events this year include returning San Diego audience favorites like Rodgers + Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, DIRTY DANCING and STOMP, and two of Broadway’s longest running shows, LES MISÉRABLES and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
