CHIVER, WILLIAM JEAN FINAL2-1WILLIE JEAN FALKNER, affectionately known as “Jean” by family and friends, was born September 12, 1939 in Bonita, Louisiana to very loving and proud parents, the late Eugene and Willie Vee Falkner. Jean was the eldest of her three siblings. During the early 1940s, the Falkner Family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she received her formal education and graduated from Centennial High School. During her teen years, Jean accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. After high school, Jean began employment with Mattel Toys Company, where she worked for several years. In 1969, Jean relocated to San Diego, California, where she was employed as a Nurses Assistance at a local nursing facility and later with Xerox. Jean later developed an interest in doing hair. With determination and perseverance, she became a licensed cosmetologist and a successful entrepreneur, owning two beauty salons. Jean’s love and passion for cosmetology continued throughout her life. She was also an accomplished quilt maker and an artist of crafts and was very successful in marketing her creations. She later met Lawrence Williams, Sr., affectionately known as “Larry”. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1972. After thirty-two years of love and marriage, her beloved Lawrence was called home to Glory in 2004. Jean was adventurous and was never afraid to try something new. As a young woman, she was always the life of the party. Although she was the smallest of all her cousins, they called on her whenever there was trouble or concern. Jean also enjoyed singing, dancing, music, traveling and food; spaghetti was her favorite dish. One of her life’s dreams was to visit Africa and in 2007, her dream came true. She collected African art and of all the animals in Africa, the elephant was her favorite; by far, this was her most memorable and amazing trip ever. Over the last few years, Jean had experienced some health issues, yet she remained resilient. For she never gave up, she fought a good fight, finished the course and kept the faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, while on her way to her weekly hobby class to make angels, Jean was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, five devoted and loving children, Llyris Chizer “Dobie”, Floriska Byas “Fee” (Clyde), Perrone Chizer “Fella”, Linda Childress and Lawrence Williams, Jr., all of San Diego, CA; two brothers, P. W. Williams “Pee Wee” of Temecula CA and Al White of Escondido, CA; one sister, Roslyn Anderson of San Diego, CA; seven grandsons, Tyrell, Chauncy, Quincy, Kameren, Suran, Casemi and Zamora; and a host of other relative and friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life. Services were held Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Memory Chapel of Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary; interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
