Marjorie E. Lester
September 23rd, 1929 – September 9th, 2016
Marjorie Lester entered the world September 23, 1929 and finished her earthly journey September 9, 2016. Marjorie was the daughter of the late David S. Martin and Muriel Blake. She was born in Jamaica West Indies and at the age of 16, she migrated to Brooklyn N.Y. where she completed her education. She met and fell in love with Robert Lester and they later married on June 2, 1957. They had two beautiful children Myron and Renee Lester. After raising her kids, Marjorie went back to school and completed her Master’s Degree in Education from Queens College N.Y. Once graduated she became the coordinator for Queensbridge Daycare, located in Long Island NY. In 1981 Marjorie and her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she became the owner and director of the Early Childhood Development Center. Several years later, Marjorie and her family moved to San Diego, CA, where she enjoyed the climate, and the weather was perfect for her health. Once in San Diego, she decided to change her occupation, going to work for Cox Cable. After 10 years she retired and wanted to be more involved in the community. She got involved in the community. She got involved in the following services, Community Actor’s Theater, Sereen Actors, Guild, Caribbean ASSOC, Skyline Community ASSOC, and Registrar of Voters- (Prescient Inspector). Marjorie is survived by: her husband Robert, son, Myron, daughter, Renee, five grandchildren, 9 great grands, 4 sisters, 5 brothers, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Marjorie never wavered from the faith of God. She tried to live as an example of a child of God by serving others and trusting in His promises daily. She had an impact on many family members and friends. She was an activist in the community, and always put others first. She is gone but will never be forgotten.
