Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. San Diego Alumnae Chapter (SDAC) will host a “Say Yes to the Dress: Prom Dress Giveaway” Saturday, February 28th from 1p.m. – 5p.m. at St. Stephens Cathedral: 5825 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114. On a first come first served basis, young ladies in high school attending the 2015 prom will be able to select gently used gowns and formal dresses as well as learn some easy make-up tips to prepare for a night to remember. This event is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided to event participants.
SDAC has been a recognized organization in San Diego County since 1938. Throughout the year SDAC members continue their commitment to transforming under-served communities through service, leadership, and empowerment while also extending programs and public service initiatives within their Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement within the San Diego community. The “Say Yes to the Dress: Prom Dress Giveaway” will serve to aid in cutting prom costs for young ladies who may be facing financial hardship while also promoting morale, self-worth, confidence, and self-esteem.
