The Grio
Rosalind Brewer, who was the first African-American CEO of Sam’s Club, which owns Wal-Mart, will be stepping down in February, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Brewer is the longest-serving CEO for the wholesale chain. She joined Wal-Mart in 2006 and worked her way up through the company until five years ago, when she became the first African-American CEO of the company.
She will be succeeded by John Furner, Sam’s Club executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, when she leaves on Feb. 1.
