It seems that whenever the black community riots, the right wing media goes into overdrive blaming cultural deficiencies within the black community. Meanwhile, the mainstream media wastes no time interviewing members of the right wing press, or pseudo-scientists, in a pretend effort to get to the bottom of the supposed failings of the black community.
However, when white biker gang members recently opened fire on one another in Waco, leaving 9 dead and 18 injured, NBC described it as a “rumble” and “shootout”, with no discussion of the problems within white culture that would inspire a privileged class to adopt violent tendencies, and there has been no rush to describe the gangbangers, who went on a rampage, as thugs, even though the description obviously fits.
The biker “rumble” in Waco led to 192 people being arrested, according to Waco police. The massive fight between rival gang members began in the Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled out into the parking lot.
Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a police spokesman, told CNN that there were at least five rival gangs in the restaurant at the time.
“There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues,” he said.
The fight began as a fistfight but gang members didn’t hesitate to pull knives in guns.
“In my nearly 35 years of law enforcement experience,” Sgt. Swanton said, “this is the most violent and gruesome scene that I have dealt with.”
When police officers arrived on the scene, they also became targets of the biker gangs.
“They started shooting at our officers, and our officers returned fire, taking several of them down,” Swanton said. “I’m amazed at the number of rounds fired.”
If five black gangs had not only started a fight that resulted in the 9 people dying, but also opened fire on police officers, we’d all be faced with a media rehashing on the Moynihan report, placing blame on black ‘deadbeat’ dads, hip-hop, and dusting off The Bell Curve.
But because the offenders are white, this incident will be viewed as something of an anomaly that has absolutely nothing to do with race. If you want to understand why blacks are consistently viewed as some sort of lab experiment gone wrong instead instead of as American citizens, while white Americans are regarded as standard bearers of virtue, then look no further than the mainstream media’s lopsided reporting on the biker gang “rumble.”
