Thelma H. Shorter
December 27, 1927 – March 5, 2016
Thelma Harris was born on December 27, 1927 in Pine Praire, Louisiana to parents, Calvin Harris and Susie Lee, who both preceded her in death. Thelma was married to Curlee Thompson and Ernest Shorter who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two son’s. Norris Dixson and Curtis Thompson; three brothers, Raymond, Joseph and Johnny; and two sisters, Essie Mae and Rosie Lee. Thelma lived in Lufkin, Texas and in Wichita Falls, Texas. She moved to San Diego, California in 1986. She met Edward Scott in 1991, and they became inseparable, remaining together until her passing. Thelma was a child of God and was a member of Christ Temple where she was baptized. Thelma continued to do what she loved most, helping others and loving her family. She was a collector of fine and rare antiques, including china plates and magnets. She loved to spend her time with her sister, Alean Ellis playing cards, going to the casino and cooking. Everyone loved her cooking and as they would always say….”She put her foot in it!” She had a personality out of this world. She was the one woman that could cry at the drop of a dime and cuss you out too….LOL…. and then say “You know I love you.” Her charisma and warmth in her personality will not be forgotten. Thelma leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Alean Ellis of LaVeen, Arizona; two sons, Clarence and Marvin Thompson, of Wichita Falls, Texas; her partner of 25 years, Edward Scott, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memory.
